Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Here is the command, and here is the reason which will help us to obey it. Judge not the Lord with haste; complain not at his providence. Be not in a hurry or worry, looking at the circumstances of life, but “be still.” In silence and in confidence shall be your strength. “I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. If God is willing to wait, we need not be impatient. His time is the best time, and he will be exalted in due time. We, his own people should be still; let us be calm and assured and worry no more, but know, and be comforted, that the Lord is God, he is God alone, and He will be exalted above the nations; He will be glorified and fulfill his own counsels to support his own interest in the world. When discouraged or depressed, let us not be dejected, for we are CERTAIN that God will be exalted; he will work for his great name, no matter what becomes of our little names. When we pray, Father, glorify thy name, let us exercise faith upon the answer given to that prayer when Christ himself prayed it, I have both glorified it and I will glorify it yet again. Amen.
