Mark's Bio

Mark is a disciple of King Jesus and husband of Monique. Together they have been blessed in raising 14 children and enjoying our 8 grandchildren.

Mark was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 23rd round of the 1987 First-Year Player Draft, and made his MLB debut with the Giants on August 24, 1990. He spent six seasons in the Major Leagues with the Giants (1990, '95-96), New York Mets (1992), and Pittsburgh Pirates (1993-94).

Mark has had the privilege to be involved in baseball for over 45 years. He has coached from the Little League level through the Minor Leagues of professional baseball and has played from Little League through the Major Leagues. Most recently he spent two years as Pitching Coordinator for the Milwaukee Brewers (2018-19). He has been blessed to work with some of the finest people in the world during his time in baseball.

Besides playing and coaching baseball, Mark has been involved in ministry for 25 years. He is an ordained minister, planted a church in 2003, and is currently involved in preaching and teaching ministry in his local church. Mark has been blessed to minister with and through Athletes Abroad For Christ and Developing Contenders Ministries since the late 1990s.

Having been by nature a child of wrath and son of disobedience, dead in trespasses and sins, Mark formerly walked in disobedience and lived by the lusts of his flesh. But his heavenly Father, because of His great love, grace, and mercy, made Mark alive in Christ Jesus by the omnipotent power of the Holy Spirit. Being saved by the grace of God alone through faith alone because of Christ alone, Mark knows He has no reason to boast.  He seeks to live daily before the face of God for the glory of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, rejoicing in the truth that he is Jehovah’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

Mark also has a weekly podcast called “In the Bullpen.” Download the app on the Fight Laugh Feast Network to listen to all the podcasts.
